All students required to have proper basic dancewear by October, after which students will be asked to sit out of class if not properly dressed and with hair up. Ballet Girls: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers Boys: white shirt, black sweatpants, shorts or leggings, black ballet slippers or jazz shoes Jazz Girls: black leotard, black tights, black jazz shoes Boys: same as ballet Tap Girls: t-shirts or jazz pants allowed, "jazz-tap" style black tap shoes Boys: casual dress which allows for dance movement, "jazz-tap" style tap shoes Body Warmers Capezio-type dance body warmers or wrap sweaters are optional, but acceptable. Except for tap, NO t-shirts, blouses, loose sweaters or sweatsuits, street clothes, blouson leotards, wild patterned tights or leotards. Options Any solid color leotard will be acceptable if student has basic black first. Your first leotard purchase should be black. This eliminates the pressures of children wanting the latest fashions and brings uniformity to class. Optional solid colors will preserve uniformity, while allowing some appropriate options to the students. Absolutely no gum or hanging jewelry in class! Both are potentially dangerous to students. Hair secured off face and neck Loose hair is distracting to the student and the teacher, and makes it difficult for the teacher to see correct body placement. The reason for proper dance wear and fixing hair properly is to allow student to concentrate on dance while in dance class, rather than fussing with hair and clothing during class time! Fees Enrollment Fee $20 non-refundable, per family, per year. Class space can not be saved without enrollment fee. Costume Payment Policy $45 per class enrolled, due November 15. Recital costumes will not be ordered if not paid by Thanksgiving. Actual costume charges will be billed in January, and any overpayment for costumes will be credited to February tuition or recital tickets. Lesson Payments Class cost is based on $10 per hour basic rate. Reduced rates go into effect after 2 hours of class time, per family, per week. Half-Year Payment Account is to be paid in two full installments no later than the first class in September and again on February 15. Half year payments reflect a 10% savings - late payments will increase to original rate. Contract must be signed and returned to APA by the time of classes starting in fall. Dropping Classes After Christmas break, no refunds on dropped classes will be made except in extreme cases (injury, severe illness, etc.). Students are liable for balance due on classes up to recital unless written release to contract is obtained from APA. Recital Dance is a performance art and recital is a wonderful experience for students, providing the opportunity to show their improvement. Participation in recital is encouraged, but not mandatory. If a student does not wish to be in recital, the studio must be informed before Christmas break. Once costumes are ordered, they cannot be cancelled or returned, and students are liable for balance due. Attendance Irregular attendance is detrimental, not only to absentees, but especially to classmates. Consistency is important for proper training and affects the entire class. Students will not be allowed into classes late. Each warm-up exercise is necessary to build to the next. Be prompt, consistent and courteous! Please inform the studio when you will be absent, and observe class, if possible, when ill or injured. Cancellations/Make-Ups Students are encouraged to make up any missed classes in a similar level class. We encourage students to "pre-make up" classes beforeChristmas to cover for illnesses, cancellations, school functions or any known conflicts. New students are sometimes encouraged to "double up" on classes in order to catch up, and tose classes are considered "make-up" classes, at no extra charge. All classes working on basic technique through December, and by February, recital dances are begun. By March attending a make-up class is not as beneficial, and in fact is distracting and discouraged. Classes are not cancelled automatically when schools are closed! Many times, weather and roads improve later in the day, and decisions will be made on the numbers of rural or out-of-town students on that day. Call the studio, 463-2983, after 1:30 on questionable days for cancellation information. The studio also does not follow half days from any of the school districts. |
