Such a great honor to be recognized by the Gratiot County Community Foundation as this year's "Friend of the Foundation" - thank you!
Director Tina Travis has grown this philanthropic organization to an unbelievable place. The help, support, and funds that this foundation has grown to make such a difference to our community is amazing; for our schools, arts groups, children, seniors, service organizations, scholarships. It is very meaningful to be a small part of giving back to our community, and to collaborate with so many important non-profit groups. Our Ballet for the Schools has been such a blessing to me; not just to the dance students who have participated since 1999, but more importantly to the thousands of kids in the audiences who were exposed to live theater experiences for the first time, hopefully opening their eyes to "possibilities" they had not considered. To have a small part in supporting YAC, GCCF Youth Advisory Council and exposing those students to the concepts and realities of philanthropy and community service is also a blessing. They perhaps don't really "get it" until after they move on to college and beyond, but the seeds are planted; the importance of being involved and giving back to the communities of their school, town, county, state, country, world. The Board of Trustees of the Gratiot County Community Foundation want you to know how much we appreciate the many years you have enriched the lives of your students, and the efforts you invest promoting a love of the arts in Gratiot County. We also recognize and value your support of our YAC Talent Showcase through the years. Your excellent efforts to publicize the grants you have received from the Foundation help the community understand the impact we seek to enriching people’s lives. This ultimately supports our efforts to expand our endowment and be ready to meet the growing need and opportunity for funding in the future.
Thank you for all you do. ~ Sincerely, Vicki Chessin, MD GCCF Board Member July 10, 2015 Orchids to you Kathy!
